Have you found a way to bypass the bug? I tried turning the option #6 on and off (e.g. only when i need to upgrade the skills) but its not working I've tried on my 2nd run and no hope....

I haven't gotten stuck anywhere. Maybe I'm confused as to what is the problem.

I had the same problem and had to start a new game. You can not have the 'sell gives you more' option turned on except for the period of time you are actually selling something to the merchant. It added gauntlet items when I upgraded and messed up the story progression.

Make sure the 'sell gives you more' option is turned off when upgrading on the anvil or giving quest items
Can we get a savegame please that has the bug and how to reproduce? The trainer has been used by over 1200 members and so far only a couple of complaints. Anyone NOT had this issue?
I believe to reproduce just have the 'sell gives you more' option turned on when upgrading on the avil and you will see that the upgrade is completed but can be done over and over again.
Sell gives you more should only be applied when trading with a merchant if possible
